This week I started the above work on the first of my exhibition pieces, I decided that alongside my main seven portraits I am doing I am also going to do smaller portraits of family members to broaden my exhibition work and really make it feel like I've explored every familiar face in my life.
Using a Korn crayon in copal no.5 I was able to get very fine lines on these small portraits which was exactly what I was after. The photo above shows the finished portraits before etching, to create tone I drew in hatched lines, with these more expressional marks I think it gives the portraits more life.
Finally I started the first larger portrait for my exhibition, shown half way through drawing it above. This portrait is of my mum and will be one of the most central portraits to my exhibition, next week I hope to see this finished and printed.
