After finishing my mum and my brothers portraits I have begun three new ones, two being close friends of mine and the other of my Dad. Now I have already done two portraits I am finding that my technique is improving using the korn crayons for drawing. I am becoming more able to create these fine details in the portraits. I am constantly trying to keep the features gentle, especially with accessories like glasses, instead of them being harsh against the face I have tried to draw them so that they are not a stand out feature and blend in with the overall portrait, as they would look in real life.

These are the two stones etched and below is the finished print of the portrait on the left. I am really happy with how they have both printed so now need to concentrate on achieving the same with the rest of my portraits.

Then onto the portrait of my Dad above, I have struggled a little bit getting the proportions right actually, after taking a step back at the beginning of my drawing I quickly realised that I had drawn the cheeks and side of the face too far out. To correct this I had to scrape what I had drawn back with a razor, focusing on the chin area, cheekbones and sides of the face, this quickly made the portrait more accurate and I could continue with the tone and features.
Next week I hope to finish this portrait and begin another.
