I started off this week ready to print the first stone I sketched up in week three, I bought three different types of paper ready to print on, these being; Somerset Satin White, Hahnemuhle and Rives Tan. Just to see how each one looks for future prints.

Here you can see the three completed prints, the process went without bother and the print came out really well, I particularly like the gentler details of the pencil. Out of all the papers I think the Hahnemuhle and Rives Tan were the best options since the Somerset White just was a bit harsh in contrast with the print. So with my next prints I am going use those two again and see which ones suit my subject more.

Then above is the process of completing my next stone to print for next week. This time I wanted to try a slightly bigger organised print, with the inclusion of not just one portrait but with three; my mum, dad and my brother. This drawing is supposed to almost seem like faces in a memory, as my family are the closest to me they would be at the core of familiar faces in my life so I think as I continue my work for my exhibition they will be a recurring image.
To create this drawing, learning from my past two stones I started with a Korn crayon, gently creating an outline and tone, then starting with a light touche wash I started with the darkest areas of the faces and then kept adding to this as the last layer dried. I then added a darker touche wash and drawing ink around the faces and encroaching onto the faces in a swirling motion in an attempt to create this idea of a fleeting memory.
I look forward to printing this stone next week and seeing how it turns out.
